Stir- Fried Beef Teriyaki

In a bowl mix 2 teaspoons cornstarch, 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce, 2 teaspoons vegetable oil and add ½ kilo beef round which have been cut into strips. Refrigerate for about 45 minutes. Meantime stir-fry 6 spring onions which have been thinly sliced and 2 bell peppers (thinly sliced) in 2 teaspoons vegetable oil for 3 minutes. Remove from pan and then stir-fry the marinated beef for another three minutes. Stir in the vegetables and cook until beef is done.

Slumdog Millionaire Kids Back on Streets

After the demolition of 50 huts in Mumbai , India , children who acted in the movie Slumdog Millionaire are now in the streets when their homes were demolished in a slum area which has been considered illegal. With nowhere to go and all their belongings thrown out, they have nothing to eat. The movie had grossed $350 million dollars. Fortune smiled on the filmmakers but the children who were picked up from the slum of Mumbai are not. After the movie’s huge success, can they not extend more help to these children to make their lives more comfortable?

Career Mentors

When my friend again went into employment after ten years of being just a free lancer, one of the important things he did was to get career mentors. He was fortunate he got two.

Like sports coaches, his career mentors advised him where to apply for a better job and how to improve his work performance. They pointed out his weak points and taught him how to conquer them.

Choosing to be Gentle

My friends used to say, “Ang lakas ng fighting spirit mo, man!” That’s because I hate losing or getting bullied. So recently, when some people were insisting on a proposal that was unfair to my interests, I wanted to fight. And make a ruckus. And sue them to high heavens.

But I didn’t. Instead, I took the narrow road that snuffed the life out of the fighter in me. I willingly gave up what was rightfully mine.
